Fitting Home Sewing Patterns (Grading to Fit)
Grade-rule procedures that enable one to grade home sewing and other grade-rule patterns to fit.

This 400 page book is finished, but not on the market yet, as its two sequels,
Grading and Sewing a Blouse and Grading and Sewing a Jacket are still in-progress.

Laurel fits Cheryl Johnson's bodice sloper.
In this class students learn how to develop personal slopers (slopers are basic patterns from which patterns are drafted that are used
to make garments) to enable them to grade home sewing patterns to fit.

Laurel demonstrated these procedures -
how to use home sewing patterns effectively -
at the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals' 15th Annual National Educational Conference.

Teffani Dupont studies her textbook,
Grading to Fit
, before continuing with her drafting.

The textbooks, written for and tested in this program, contain step-by-step instructions and are fully diagrammed.

Continual classroom testing ensures that the materials work and can be understood.

Students draft in class, sew at home.
All work is demonstrated

Drafting & Fitting Pants and Skirts

Included in the Drafting & Fitting Pants and Skirts book is the information
needed to draft a skirt pattern to custom fit.
Learning how to draft a basic skirt pattern can expand one's wardrobe significantly.

Laurel models the sweater set she knit this summer.

With it she wears a gray skirt, cut from her skirt sloper. (Slopers are basic patterns from which patterns are drafted that are used to make garments.)

Students who take the pant course will first draft a skirt sloper from which they will then draft their pant slopers and pant patterns.

Having a skirt sloper that fits enables easy construction of skirts that compliment other clothing in one's wardrobe.

Copying a Man's Shirt
This in-progress book includes procedures that enable copying ready-made clothing
to a 1/16 inch accuracy in total circumference.
The book and course concentrate on fit and sewing techniques.
Correcting the sleeve fit throughout the biceps area and correcting the cap so that it
sews correctly into the armhole is detailed with charts and diagrams.
